Scuderia Villorba Corse confirms Total 24 Hours of Spa return with new Mercedes-AMG programme

Scuderia Villorba Corse will return to the Total 24 Hours of Spa this summer as part of a new customer racing programme with Mercedes-AMG.

The Italian squad last contested the event in 2014 when it secured a strong fifth position in the Pro-Am class and 15th overall with a Ferrari 458 Italia GT3.

The Treviso-based outfit has now switched to Mercedes-AMG machinery, announcing plans to run both GT3 and GT4 machines produced by the German marque.

In addition to other programmes, its centrepiece event for 2019 will be the Total 24 Hours of Spa. To support this effort, Villorba Corse will also contest the Circuit Paul Ricard 1000kms on 1 June. The team is yet to settle upon a driver line-up for its assault on the twice-around-the-clock contest.

“This new partnership makes us really proud and will make our 2019 season even more exciting,” commented team principal Raimondo Amadio.

“Being close to such a prestigious partner as Mercedes-AMG pushes the entire team towards high motivations, aiming to be competitive from the very beginning of the season. As with all SVC current programmes, this is a long-term project that will add further stability to the future”.

Scuderia Villorba Corse has run multiple programmes in recent seasons, including a successful GT4 effort that saw the team secure wins in the Pro-Am and Am classes of the Central European Cup in 2018. This year's Total 24 Hours of Spa runs from 25-28 July, with the race itself kicking off on Saturday afternoon at the iconic Belgian circuit.
